Itinerary

  • Day 1 - We’ll land in Fairbanks, meet at the airport for introductions and get settled in at the lodge. We’ll make one stop at the store for snacks, coffee, water, and general supplies. This is a great time to get anything you need that you forgot or didn’t buy yet. At the lodge, we’ll do a rundown of weather, aurora forecasts, road conditions and any modifications we may need to make. We’ll eat, and make a plan for a sunset drive and hit our first destination for aurora.

  • Day 2 - Depending how tired we may be will determine what time we leave, we’ll plan on taking the 2 hour drive to Chena Hot Springs, be at the resort for sunset, night time and chase aurora. This is a great day to get some group shots, discuss camera techniques, editing basics, and learn about our future goals in photography.

  • Day 3 - We’ll depart the lodge a little earlier and head east towards Delta Junction, this is a great day to see epic landscapes, wildlife such as Moose, Caribou, and Owls, and wind down with a 1 mile hike to an ice Cave to shoot aurora from and capture some iconic shots from Interior Alaska. It is vital to dress very warm for this day.

  • Day 4 - From my experience, we will be a little drained and sluggish on this day. We’ll sit down in the lodge to eat, dive deep into editing photos and timelapses and get a chance to make sure you’re happy with your editing style. We’ll take a look at the weather forecasts to determine which way we want to head for the night.

  • Day 5 - This is your last chance to get your questions in, editing basics or any other tips you may need for the future, and then head out for the final night of chasing. This night will also be dictated by the weather forecasts on where we travel to for the night.

  • Day 6 - We’ll get packed, checked out of the lodge, get breakfast/lunch, and head to the airport for final departure.
